Free Application for Federal Student Aid

What is the FAFSA?

The FAFSA is a free application that determines how much you are eligible for in:

  • Student Loans - Money you must pay back plus interest.
  • Grants - Money that you are NOT required to pay back.
  • Work Study - Employment through the university offered to students with financial need

When can I apply?

January 1 of Senior Year.  You should apply as early as possible to receive the most available funds.

How can I estimate how much financial aid I will receive?

Juniors and seniors who have not yet filed their FAFSA may get an estimate of how much they will receive by using a tool called the FAFSA4caster.

http://www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov/

Do I have to wait on my parents to file their taxes before I can submit my FAFSA?

No.  It is okay to estimate your and your parents' income based on last year's tax forms.  You will be required to make adjustments if necessary.

Is there a fee?

No.  You should NEVER pay someone to file your FAFSA.

How can I apply?

The application is only available online at  www.fafsa.ed.gov
